Block London teams with artist Paul Insect to place Rainbow Benches around empty central London *updated*
The Cutfoam Group Press Room • May 28, 2020
UPDATE
It appears several of the benches have been taken away or stolen from the sites they were put in. Paul Insect wrote earlier on instagram: 'It seems like London did not like the benches I left. As they have all disappeared. Videos forwarded to me. #london #rainbowbench #paulinsect @sadiq #findthebenches @blocklondonfurniture"
We will update this page with new information as we get it.
"London has never looked so good as it does now," Paul Insect says about the current situation in our Capital City. "The streets are clean and the views are unbroken by people... a perfect time to be exploring your city where ever you are, of course with the correct social distancing.”
London Artist Paul Insect
in collaboration with our sister company, Block London furniture, have produced some rainbow benches which they have been leaving around empty parts of central London over the past week.
This is an artistic statement and also a tribute to the Healthcare workers, Doctors, Nurses and all staff who worked in hospitals and to the everyday key workers who have kept England running – the shopkeepers, bus and train drivers, dustmen and women and our Postal workers. They hope the benches will become a place for people to reflect on the past couple of months as our cities begin to open up again.
"London has never looked so good as it does now", say Paul, "the streets are clean and the views are unbroken by people…
A perfect time to be exploring your city where ever you are”. Of course with correct social distancing.
